dendam kesumat warga tua kepada muda-mudi

respect.

yes, we respect our elders. we love them. we really do.
regardless if it's the makcik jual santan at pasar borong selangor or the pakcik teksi in penang who always demands ridiculous amounts of taxi fare.

but should it be a one-sided thing? who said they can't respect us back? (by 'us' i mean the youngsters, teenagers, and people without the wit and wisdom of elders)

who gave them the right to treat us like pieces of crap worthless kids. i know they've lived far longer than we have but that doesn't mean they have authority over us. ah. i can't bring myself to write what i really mean because even here, i still feel they don't deserve to be embarrassed.

geram. helpless. terpaksa duduk diam and accept all the bashings.
DUSH~!

Oldies are not Moldies~

i used to make a lot of fuss when mom and dad tuned in to their oldies radio station, and i can't sit still until they changed it back to fly.fm;

so i knew something was wrong when i started to sing along with them.

when we first started our interpreting classes, we have 1-hour recording sessions which we use for interpreting exercises. gradually, the 1-hour session became 2-hours and the exercises keep getting more and more difficult.

i used to dread those sessions, until our senior citizen lecturer (and also the founder of our course) announced that he wanted to conduct listening exercises.
he started by asking, what is a ballad?
in Malay we know the music category for balada usually consists of lagu2 slow so we told him that.
not exactly, he said. actually a ballad is a song that tells a story, and the best stories are in songs of the oldies. that was how we started to get in touch with elvis, tom jones, roy orbison, pat boone, etc.
we have to listen to the songs and transcribe the lyrics then and there to train our listening and memory skills.
there was even a time when we have to interpret Zainal Abidin's "Hijau", and imagine the horror when we came to the Pantai Timur dialects in the song.

some of the oldies which we have hummed throughout the year include:-

i have to admit, despite the strenuous efforts we used to interpret difficult documentaries or news or any kind of texts, those oldies tunes are what help make the weekly recording sessions more bearable.

Kalau Aku Seorang Lelaki...

Kalau Aku Seorang Lelaki...
  • akan ku keluar umah begitu saje dgn T-shirt dan shorts tanpa perlu sibuk2 mencari tudung...
  • aku bleh pegi mane2 je sorg2 n tak perlu risau keselamatan diri...
  • aku bleh berperangai buruk tanpa dipandang serong oleh orang ramai...
  • aku bleh mengecewakan seorg perempuan tanpe rase bersalah...
  • aku akan mengambil architecture! ade sebab yg lebih tersirat di cni...(for more info ask me privately...i might not answer u..huehue~)
  • aku akan mengejar bintang impianku...tanpa perlu menunggu dgn penuh ketidakpastian...

Hello, Mr Porno Guy

"eh, fahaman politik ape ek dlm English?"

Mr Nice Guy asked me when he wanted to prepare his speech. I looked at him to answer, and he looked away slightly. Oh, maybe he is one of the good guys who doesn't waste their time looking at girls. After all, when he introduced himself to class, he said his #1 priority is God, then parents, then bla3, n then only girls. Fine. I answered his question.

in class...

"...and yes, i admit, since i entered usm 3 years ago, me and my friends enjoy watching porn and sex DVDs...we don't have to look far, the local-made ones has very good cinematography..."

err...(siap komen sinematografi lagi!)

hello? is this the same guy who looks away from girls, only to admit he enjoys watching uncovered girls?? (kinda funny, btw)

now Mr Nice Guy has turned into Mr Porno Guy! (sorry dude..you asked for it)

or maybe i was ugly to his eyes, we'll never know...

since then, evrytime he speaks in class, all of us have this...er...perception about him...granted, it's common knowledge and he IS a guy,but then, his actions doesn't really match his behaviour.

Mr Porno Guy, we'll love you more if you didn't confess~

"siape suroh kamu terlalu jujur..."

things are not always what they seem...

as cliched as it is, the observant-little-me sometimes seem to experience these moments...
recent ones have happened in usm, on my way back from class last monday~

#i was admiring my lecturer's shiny Skyline he bought in Japan some time ago...when i noticed the baby-seat in the back. so he's not only a guitar-playing, slambe-rock, stylo lecturer who goes racing in his Skyline...
he's also a doting father. =)

#a guy is tiredly pushing his friend on a wheelchair down a steep slope from pusat bahasa, amidst the congested afternoon traffic...when suddenly he stepped onto the back of the wheelchair and both of them went zooming down the slope, laughing their heads off and having the time of their lives.
being an OKU doesnt mean u cant have fun with ur frenz. =)

it shows that even the simplest things in life can make u smile.
