smiling at strangers

she was sitting on the turf, watching her nephew clamber up and down the slides at the playground. replying messages. trying to hide from the sun. hoisting a bottle of water everywhere she goes.
and then came the kites.
one was blue, and the other, pink. with minnie mouse on it.
her eyes followed the string and saw 3 guys arguing over who should hold the kites and who should run with the string.
she smirked, coz the kites are just too cute for them! maybe they saw the smirk so they made a point of arguing right where she was sitting, and running around with the kites in very near vicinity. she had to dodge the strings every 5 seconds.
annoyed, but with nowhere else to go, she grabbed one of the strings and ran away with the kite. she glanced towards the sky. oh, it was the pink kite. nice.
ignoring the shouts of "hoy! ko nk bwk g mane tuh??" from the guys, she continued running. and laughing. and enjoying her sudden moment of kite-stealing. she had so much fun it made her forget all her worries.
with a genuine smile, she turned back towards the owners of the kite she just robbed.
apparently, they'd given up trying to chase her. maybe they were amused by what she did.
so the only thing they did was smile back.
